hours clock

My hours clock just died on my yanmar 3100D tractor. it only said 11.8 hours on it because I was told it was replaced only a month ago. I was also told these things quit working quite often, is this true ???

Yup, they also speed up and slow down with engine speed. It's more of a rough estimate guage than an actual hour guage.

Did the tachometer stop working too?
If so, the cable is broken...

Or it could be just a broken odometer.

Yeah, everything quit working. The rpm needle and the odometer just stopped.
and then yesterday when I started the tractor, the rpm needle worked for about ten seconds and then back to zero. it sounds like a loose or broken cable doesn't it...I 'll find out shortly

You can buy a new one at Yanmar Tractor Parts - Shop Online

When you replace the old cable, tape the new one to the end of the old cable with duct tape on the dashboard end of the cable.
Then pull it thru the dashboard and into the engine compartment.

Pulling it is a lot easier than pushing the new one through the mess of wires, fuel tank ect....

mine stopped working. Found broken cable. Replaced cable. Cable broke again. The gears would bind in the tach / hour meter & break the cable. Dealer replaced tach/ hour meter durning warranty
