my hour meter stopped working this weekend.i checked the fuss and the fuss is working.is this a commen problem or is there something else i shouldcheck.thanks

I had a 1998 Toro Wheelhorse 3148 garden tractor. The hour meter stopped working at around 450 hours. I checked everything possible that would be associated with the hour meter not working. I couldn't find the problem. I had my dealer look at it and they couldn't find a problem either. So, it was time to buy a new hour meter. $40.00.

And, speaking of hour meters, to much my displeasure I discovered that the one on my Sears DGT6000 counts time by the ignition switch being on and not by the engine running.
Seems my youngest son was playing with daddy's little toy and he turned the ignition switch on and left it that way for an additional 88 hours. So, now it is showing more hours than it actually has. Thank goodness (knock on wood) that it has been trouble free for the past 2 years. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Unhook the hour meter and keep track of it with a watch and pad and pencil for 88 hours then hook it up again. I don't think you can get them to run backwards.
