I am hoping for some advice on how to fix a stuck hour meter. When I bought the tractor in 2013, the alternator went and somewhere during the process my hour meter stopped working at around 300 hours.

I am considering selling my CK20 to upgrade to an excavator for a project, but I am most likely going to keep it so I can use it for managing my goats. Either way I need to fix the hour meter. I spoke with a Kioti service guy and he said it could be a few things, but before I have it towed in to him to replace the cluster, I should try and troubleshoot it.

He said there should be a pink wire with a white tracer under the left foot where the black plastic box is mounted, and that the wire may be unplugged or broken. I can't find a single wire under that side, near that box.

He said that under the steering wheel or on the firewall there should be a black box that says "hours" on it. I can't find any such box.

He said it's most likely not the cluster because it happened around the time I changed the alternator.

Does anyone have any suggestions to help me fix this? Thanks a lot.

Sorry I forgot to mention that the tach works fine, and everything else on the tractor works great as it should, it's just the hour meter.

My hour meter on my CK20 has also stopped, but I have not had time to dig into it just yet, too many other projects. Do you have the schematic, if not IM me and I will send you what I have.

Rancho,

I have sent you a PM for the schematic. I appreciate the help. Does anyone have any ideas about what might be going on to cause this? Thanks a lot!

Don't waste time and money trying to trace it, I highly doubt you find a fix. This has been discussed on several threads.
My 2003 CK20hst meter died at about 100. Determined there was a problem in the cluster, checked and had to replace whole cluster, back in 05 it cost over $300 for part only. went to internet to a site recommended by others here and found a very nice compact digital hour meter that has 5 logs, 4 resettable, one counts down to next oil change, non resettable is master, rest can be used for what ever service you want.
Oh price was under $50, two wire connection, took longest to find and cut hole for install, two wires, done in under an hour. Oh still works like new after over 1500 hrs.

Joe, I did consider wiring a new digital meter, but I am not sure yet if I am going to sell the tractor or not and figured the new owner would either want a new cluster, or a digital meter. I guess if I end up keeping it I will install a digital meter. It seems to me that this issue is very common with these tractors and it's a shame that Kioti doesn't cover the cost of fixing the issue.
