Got the dash gauges installed , I used pods i had left over from another project , They worked out great and are in a good location to veiw easy. I got a little carried away and added diamond plate below the dash because most of my sheet metal is rusted badly.

Looks great, and the restore is coming along nicely. If that is the original steering wheel, what did you use on it? BTW, if you would put the whole restoration project on the same thread it would be easier to follow, and greatly appreciated by all. On this forum, each new post brings your thread back to the top.

You can restore your steering wheel by scraping off the white powder with a knife and lightly go over it with a propane torch.
You can do it without scraping it but it works better if you do.

I'm working on adding gauges to our 1510D but didn't want to use pods. Will the pods on the cowling get in the way when you add fuel?

Here is a pic of how I ended up mounting the gauges on my 186D. They are very visible on or off the tractor! They are also lit so you can easily read them in low light.

are these gauges elec. or mech. gauges? If they are mech. where did you get the metric adapters that screw into the water temp. & oil pressure slots?

There mechanical , Autozone has the Sunpro kit to adapt to metric. The kit didnt have one for the water temp but had a adapter that would screw in the hole above the water pump. So i drilled the center out to make it fit and J-B welded the gauge sender in place, Keep in mind when you install the sender the lead needs to turn with the sender as to not twist off or kink the tube inside.

Flashpoint,

Autozone is where I got mine. The adapter for the water temp gauge comes seperate from the one for the oil. I don't have the part numbers, but it sounds like you took care of it. I trust my gauges more than some idiot light.

RobF,
Great looking install on the gauges. I may just copy that outright if I ever get around to installing the Sunpro gauges I bought on my 186D. Yours is much nicer looking than mine and you have the old style power shift on the tranny just like mine. Did you fab the mount or source it somewhere?
