Am looking at purchacing a hot water power washer to keep 10 pieces of equipment clean. Am looking at Ezy Clean, 3 gallons per minute with 2700 PSI. There are other more expensive models with up to 4000 psi.

Am thinking that 2700 psi should do the trick verses higher pressure as cleaning equipment is its only job.

Any one have thoughts wheter the extra pressure is worth investing in for this application.

Thanks

For cleaning equipment with hot water the volume would be more of an asset than pressure. I had a hot water system for a few yrs. 1500 psi and it did a great job, worked better than my 4500 psi cold water one I have now. If you use a garden sprayer and spray it down with super clean or some kind of decreaser first it will work the best. The inline soap dispensers don't work as well and waste a lot of solution. One of my sons has a pressure washing business and I get advice from him.

I don't think hot water is needed for cleaning equipment. My 2700 psi washer is strong enough to etch concrete, do I can't imagine what would benefit from a 4,500 psi one has.

Put on a really long extension and use it to cut down those dangerous trees you can't stand beside.

I have a high volume pressure washer and a steam genny. I would like to go with a hot water pressure washer but most have a gasoline engine and diesel fired coil. Kind of stupid if you ask me. Why not a (yanmar) knock-off diesel engine?

My biggest beef is cleaning grease. Especially around backhoe and loader pins. The steam genny just dissolves grease but steam is dangerous, as I found out. A T-Shirt is no protection when the lance is turned on you by accident!

The pressure washer just moves the grease from one place and blasts it on to another.

Curious, if someone could tell how a hot water pressure washer handles grease.

Thanks, the primary purpose is to remove.grease, I was thinking about a steam washer with a water temp of 350 but they are big bucks. The machines are rental units and I grease them like crazy so grease is everywhere.

Hot water and lower pressure is great for cleaning grease. High pressure systems are good for cleaning equipment that is long overdue for a cleaning but blasts the debris all over. Having used steam, hot water and high pressure cold water. In order of preference its steam then hot water at a lower pressure 1000-1500 then higher pressure cold water. As others have said soaking the area to be cleaned with a degreaser using a pump sprayer saves chemicals and works better than just using what's on the pressure washer, hot or cold.

4000 psi systems are good if you need to reach a long distance but can do a lot of damage quick if misdirected to a sensitive part. Aiming that kind of pressure on seals etc can get water into places that it would not normally go. For general cleaning my vote is for hot water at a lower pressure.

Thanks Stimster2. I think no matter my choice some elbow grease is going to be required to remove as much grease as possible then hit it with low pressure hot water power washer. I think that if I needed to clean equipment the equipment for repainting the steam option would be worth the extra cost.
