Kubota BX24
Hi,
Thanks to all who participate in this forum. I've used it many times as a resource, but this is my first post. I really appreciate any and all help!

I have a Kubota BX24 with a backhoe attachment, which I was using yesterday, until hydraulic fluid started spraying from the lower part of the main arm on the backhoe. Turned out that a hose attachment failed, and has been pushed out of the main cylinder at an odd angle.

What is going to be the best way to get this out without causing any further damage, or causing the least amount of additional damage?

Thanks,
bx24user

I would hold the fitting steady with a wrench then disconnect the compression nut. Then try to remove the fitting. In the picture it looks like silicone around the fitting. Wonder if it was a problem before and someone attempted to hold it with silicone?

Hi,
Thanks for the response. I have already disconnected the compression nut. My concern about just trying to remove the fitting as it is, is it's now cross-threaded. Do you think it would be best to try and tap it back straight with a hammer, or just try and turn it out as is??

Not sure which will cause less damage? And yes, there does appear to be some kind of silicone, or teflon tape. Not sure. I bought the tractor second hand and this is the first problem I've had.

Thanks

I would just unscrew it. The fitting may be bent and the threads on the cylinder may be ok. Doubt it but maybe. Hitting with a hammer would be worse in my opinion.

I was able to get the fitting out without much trouble. And the even better news is that the threads are fine. Yay! Now I just need to take a trip to the local Kubota dealer to get a new fitting.

Thanks for getting back to me again! I appreciate the help!

The question is, what hit this fitting?
