Hearing today’s news about the death of a hated and liked, divisive, polarizing public figure made me think of this thread.
On social media there sure is a lot of “honesty” being put forth regarding people’s feelings toward him. Lots of people agreeing with those here who have no problem speaking ill of the dead.

Should toxicity be returned with toxicity? Negativity returned with negativity? Divisiveness returned with divisiveness? Hate with hate? I suppose questions like these and concepts of forgiveness, justice, karma, etc.. are the questions of religion that mankind has wrestled with for the ages.

If the deceased merely had normal foibles associated with being human, that's one thing. Let's say he was a known Pedophile. Why for the love of God would anyone show up? Why do humans pretend stuff like that never happened? If they go, they should go to spit or better piss on the body. Last chance!

Funny you mention that, the phrase “Rest in P*ss” is surging today on social media and search engines.
The quote "I've never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure." has shown up a lot today too.
Meh, I still say don’t waste your time on negativity.

Now you have me wondering "Who died", to promote all of the vitriol which apparently is rampant.

Oh. Now I know.

Besides, having to spend money on dress clothes that FIT, might kill me too.

No need fer concern wid de fit, undertaker got scissors and probably connection at Sal Boutique to get finest jackets rich people donate. You be amazed how many spend eternity on some safety pins holding clothes together.

Fellow who went in white suit had it tailored to be buried in so he finally spotless after years of workin in dirt & grease. Tailor left back of pants like rental tuxedo pants. Ed always liked havin proper tools in reach so he bought himself final eternal suit.

Plenty more representing other points of view spent another day hating & polarizing huge swaths of the country. They will get up and do it again tomorrow as routinely as someone dropping a 2 pounder everyday before they head out the door for work.
Ill take freedom of speech over speech regulation 24/7/365.
Dont like what someone is saying? Turn the channel until you find someone that says what you like.
RIP RL, you are the GOAT

The aforementioned deceased has left behind a documented record of hate, vitriol, and divisiveness; my hope for him.... may he rest in peace with God, who accepts all men equally, unlike the deceased who spewed forth us vs them every day.

The aforementioned raised 10’s millions of dollars given in private and public donations for Leukemia. Leukemia is now a very curable disease. The wife of a guy who works for me has Leukemia. Scary stuff, but she survived. Would have died 20 years ago.

Wonder where generously helping the funding of very expensive Leukemia research puts him compared to vindictive little people who destroy innocent peoples property and brag about it? Mirrors help with that type of hypocrisy.

(removed) ... a Rule bout not sayin name of cattail used to calk between barrel staves?

I need to get my eyes checked. Three times I read this and wondered what good a cattail would do in a barrel Stove… wouldn't it just burn up?

I was often asked to be an alter server at funerals...

As a kid it was an eye opening glimpse into another world...

Some funerals were celebrations and some non stop crying.

Gratuities sometimes followed as did hand written thank you cards

Never thought of it as a burden and often the family received great comfort...

Gratuities never expected but being 10 and getting a $20 was a big deal...

Yes - he was a very generous man with his time and money (personal plus fundraising). It was never (rarely) mentioned by (in his words) the mainstream media.

It ranks very high on my scale. But my scale is not important.

He was also a religious man.

I'll remember a hate mongering drug addict; God can remember the Leukemia fund raising...

I did the same in grade school. At that age, death was something (fortunately) I had not experienced in my family and something that was abstract.

However, when you see people in pain and learn it’s a parent, or child, or spouse, it can even have an impact even on a clueless kid. At least for a while, it made me appreciate my parents and grandparents a little more.

I remember hearing from a friend that went through tornado destruction in Missouri...

Mr Limbaugh heard of the destruction and sent truckloads of supplies...

A neighbor who passed years ago had sent Rush a letter questioning something said on the radio.

Rush sent a two page personal response and the Grandaughter read the letter in entirety at the funeral... it was humerus and like two old friends catching up... Rio Linda was mentioned several times.

He grew up in Cape Girardeau, MO. It’s roughly 1-1/2 hours south of St. Louis.

You know he was also a big contributor to the Marine Corps Law - Enforcement foundation. He raised millions for the spouses of those gave the ultimate sacrifice, so people can have the right to burn flags and express their freedoms.
I wonder what the little clowns who trash him after he died a painful death think about the thousands who benefitted, perhaps by having their lives saved, from his generosity?

Haters never spent any time to understand him.
They heard the word " racist " and just repeated the term, like most small minded haters do. Then they wrap themselves in phony virtue.

This thread has morphed into a real life answer to the OP's question. Too bad that he hasn't returned to see it.
