I'm not too enthused about the unguarded chain running right next to
the exposed left arm. One slip off the handle and a really big OOPS!!:shocked:

Almost seems if the saw was reversed it would make more sense/be safer?
You would need to pull up instead of push down but much safer

I think this should be designed to include a safety housing the bar would go into when not cutting. Then the lever to move the saw should be extended so the grip is over a foot away from the cutting bar. Until then, I wouldn't consider using it. But then, that's just me.

What if we made one with a rubber blade? That would be safe???
I grew up in a farming area and knew lots of adults with missing fingers, toes, etc. Sometimes you can be just as quick and efficient and still be safe. I think this device falls into that category.

I agree.
Great firewood processor but does look unsafe with being that close to the chain. I sure wouldn't use it. I think I wanna keep my arms.

Just thinking a little more about it, this could be modified to have a "fence" with an opening for the wood to be pushed through. Then the saw could be operated by a foot pedal below the table, not a lever above the table. That way the operator could be shielded from the blade and could use both hands to move and hold the wood.
Oh, why stop there? Add a hydraulic lift, rollers on the table and BIG saw. :licking:

If the pull handle was off set away from the blade would help as well, and some type of stationary guard that the blade went up into when not sawing would be a big help, I think I would want a piece that the nose of the saw bar would be guarded as well.
or make a foot peddle to step on and pull the saw through that would leave both hands free,
It could have the switch incorperated with it so the first inch would turn on the saw and the remander would pull it throught the log, or limb, and it would auto shut off as well, maybe in such a way that if the foot was released it woudl shut off regardless of the postion of the saw, (possibly a foot switch on a bressure bar, to move the saw,

This guy is crazy. I would redesign and like others have said make if foot operated or add an actuator also. Add a guard for that bar

How is this any more dangerous then just using a regular chainsaw? You guys are WAY to quick to condemn, not saying there couldn't be a guard here and there but overall this is just as safe if not safer then running a regular chainsaw into small brush like that. "Kick back" with this setup might hit a finger or hand, "kick back" with regular sawing would result in loss of facial tissue. Yes I do cut wood, have for over 30yrs. also own a sawmill, so no I'm not green when it comes to chainsaws nor logging. This design is not all that bad and if it works for him I don't see an issue. No matter how many safety devices are forced onto us through self save laws, there will allways only be one true safety device that'll do the most............operator knowledge. Seems to me this person has made something that makes life easier for them and IMO didn't do all that bad. Okay I'm done with my observation back to all you recliner chair pros.

Oh excuse us for trying to save the guy from dismemberment and life changing injuries.
I guess your not a man if you utilize safer equipment that could work just as well if not better than the original design...
I for one need my fingers, hands, toes and arms for my livelihood and career.
I am no logger but have cut for many years with chainsaws, quick cut saws and numerous other power tools (I guess that makes me an armchair quarterback because I don't earn a living doing it; so be it!)
You can be productive while being safer!

In this guys defense, it appears that the camera angle makes it look like the saw is much closer to his hand and arm than it actually based on the opening shot. Still makes me cringe though and I don't want to run it.
