I had some scrap pieces of plywood hanging around. So this past fall, I constructed a leaf scoop to gather raked leaves. I also found the scoop gave me double or bettter bucket capacity to move firewood. The depth of the scoop is 42".

Good idea! I must have moved 300 FEL loads of leaves this past Nov, from the front yard to the back corner pile. Sure wish I'd seen this.
How do you keep the bottom from sliding out when you dump the bucket? Does that 1 chain hold it in? KW

Brilliant, that is now on my to do list.

Very cool! I built one on a carry all for firewood and it works great. I made it a detachable wooden platform and bet it could be adapted for the bucket too.

Can you share your plans for this, or maybe a few more pics? Thanks

KW,
I attached a couple more pics for you of the scoop. There is no right or wrong way to do this thing. Just make sure you have about 1/2 inch of clearance on each end of the scoop between it and the bucket. I also used bolts to strengthen the 2X's attachment to the main piece.
Good luck.

Thanks! If I don't start this for firewood this season, surely will by fall leaf time.

Thanks everyone. Pretty clear there is not a turn key solution for lazy guys like me. But I do have scrap wood and quite a few saws and tool; I think I can make this work. We also deal with Ponderosa Pine needles, which I have seen others reference. They are a pain to pick up and move; this will work well for that too.

If anyone has more innovative ideas for this application keep them coming. Great stuff; thanks again.
