homemade boom for atv sprayer.....ideas?

I have an atv sprayer that we use along the fence line to control weeds....well I have sickel pod coming up in a few fields and the coop won't spray the fields b/c there is cotton growing down the road....well that means I need to somehow do it....has anybody made a small boom for their sprayer? nothing big maybe 10 feet, it seems you would only need the hose some nozzels and something to hang it from ( I was thinking of PVC pipe).....any and all suggestions are wanted and needed.....thank you Chris.

Boomless nozzle is much more simple, especially for that size. Also a lot cheaper.

Wick systems are somewhat common in agriculture applications when rye invades a wheat field. The link is to one an extension agent made. They will use less than a tenth of the spray method and no drift.

I believe I would change the design to a 1" pvc pipe with 1/4" fittings and rope and a small gravity feed supply reservoir with a cut off/on valve rather than having a heavy liquid filled boom.

I also agree with the Boomless nozzle. Our sprayers have them and they are in expensive.

Also ... they are available in different patterns, widths. And you never worry about catching the boom on the fence, trees or anything in the path.

Only one nozzle to maintain ...

Boomless is OPK unless there is ANY wind. Drift to non target areas and inaccurate application on traget area. Individual nozzles are also cheaper.

I've never had any trouble, though I don't go spray with 20 mph winds either. My tip sprays decent size droplets, not a mist. I'm not sure how you think a boom and multiple tips is cheaper than one single boomless tip, but you may want to check those prices again. I paid $20 for my tip. Can you suggest a complete boom system for less?

First off thank you for all the replies.....couple questions what size boomless sprayer head would u recommend? Where did you buy it? Coop? Tractor store? Tractor supply? Do all boomless heads fit all sprayers? Sorry for all the questions but I do not know anything about it.....Chris

Although the picture of the boom is not that great, this is what I have which covers about something like 8 feet. It looks like it's pretty much just a piece of 3/4" conduit with a couple of nozzles clamped on to the ends. I can't imagine the nozzles (all plastic) are very expensive, but I've never priced them. Our TSC has quite a bit of parts to make up spray heads so if you've not checked there, you might want to if you have one nearby.
