Interesting. Looks like a fun thing to build too.

you going to build up a frame around the boom cylinder for the dipper stick cylinder to attach to?

You can flip the boom so the cylinder is underneath, then you can make a more elegant dipper cylinder mount.

Overall, it looks a underbuilt in terms of strength. It needs to at least withstand the cylinder forces at the hydraulic relief pressure. You can reduce the relief pressure of the valve if you need to.

btw, "fu" is a somewhat vulgar misspelling of few. (maybe it's just me)

Please, on your video's, try and stabilize the camera, and move it slowly and zoom in whenever you have to. Just use a single stick or a three leg tripod.
ok i will try next time

welderboy14,

You said no stabilizers, how are you going to prevent the bucket force from pulling your BH around. You need some kind of down force, at an angle, and pointed toward the pulling force.

this is my opinion, and I am not sure if it has been talked about or not,

but on the hinge or pivot at the trailer, the attachment to the trailer, IMO need to strong enough that if the bucket was held solid, you could lift the trailer off the ground and not have the attachment to the trailer bend or fail, (I would go to the frame of the trailer, and reinforce from that point up), you will need some place for solid attachment of the stabilizers, as well,

(it will only take a few Min's of digging and you will start to see your weak or stress areas,)

if it is not reinforced it looks like to me you will have a two piece back hoe in short order,

x2 the trailer frame looks to be a little flimsy i built a cad dig and the force is incredible.

Just a point of comparison for ya...I have a Cad-Plan model 628. Had an incident where a 4x5 angle iron 1/2" thick got between the swing arm and the frame. It curled that sucker like it was heavy cardboard. The spine is 2x2x1/4. The front cross rail for the stabilizers is also 2x2, as is the rear for the wheels. The spine and two cross rails are covered with 1/2" plate stitch welded in place. Everything you're doing looks great. That center pivot can't be strong enough. 1" pins are the minimum. The grease fittings you're using is a VERY good idea. orient them for easy access considering articulation, then welding in place.
