To tell the truth, I don't think it costs all that much to make that stuff. The cameras are basically on a chip, and they do a huge volume, as they have done for many years.

I've been buying/using X10 stuff for years, with no complaints. I have one of their camera/transmitter/receiver packages ($149 a couple of years ago). Nothing spectacluar about the picture quality, but then again, it's plenty sharp and clear enough for my purposes (letting me see who's approaching our house or at the front door, while I'm in my back bedroom office). I was surprised to get full color for that price, but like I said, no complaints.

They're a long-standing, solid company, so I wouldn't hesitate to try out more of their "cheap" cameras.

Yikes /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif!!! That is simply amazing, but it also must be because these devices are cheap to make!

I know I have to smile when I see these PDA's selling for in the range of $400-$600, when I know that they don't cost much more to make than the ones that sell for $150. So I guess a lot of it is in the market dynamics of how many people want something versus how many of the things are for sale.

Kinda like power? Maybe there's a clue there??? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I have 6 of the wideeye cameras and use them for my antique shop. They work great and have sound as well! the price is well worth it. If you get the 3 camera set up get the wide angle ones, its money will spent!

Thomas,

How many Goslings could you get for $99? At least if they didn't work you could eat em./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

the only name i can come up with is X10; but the best deal they have going right now is the 3camera/vcr deal; for $199 you get 3 wireless cameras, motion detectors, the equipment to scan the cameras, and a rf to ir converter to turn your vcr on if motion is detected..pretty slick..but since my JD2240 is in the shop, split in the middle and gettin the transmission worked on, i don't have $199 to spare...

Here's another source I've used for X-10 stuff: Smarthome. I've been happy with their products and service but have not specifically checked into cameras etc. Hope this helps /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Around these parts there just about free, and I bet at times people would be most willing to pay for one to take them.

Bill,
go to www.x10.com they have just what you are talking about.I got a system from them a few months ago and couldn't be more pleased. Their prices are great and the product is good. They have a money back in 30 days if not happy with their product so I took the chance. I use it as a surveilance system in my antique shop and have 6 wide angle cameras and they let me watch whats going on in the shop. Go to the web sight or call them, they are very helpfull over the phone. I thought I needed more and they sold me only what I needed. Good luck with your search.

thankfully, i found a mechanic for the state highway dept that does evening work at his house; $20 a hour; so that helps a lot; myself, i'm pretty much mechanicly challenged; i have overhauled a couple ole engines with good results in the past(ferg TO20; chevy 235), but am much more gun shy about tackling them now; got by with @$220 on this shifting problem; but i have decided i am going to sell the 2240 or trade it in on a new green or orange tractor; i know i'll take a beatin on the trade in, but sometimes ya just gotta grin an take it..i dropped the price on the 2240 with a JD520 fel to $9500; the fel was put on the tractor within the last 250 hours; sure hope it sells.
