Hitch Rating Question

Whatever the tow guide says on the HD page is what the tow guide means as it applies to the HDs. I know for a fact that the 2011 2500HD is rated 13000# wt. carrying and wt. distributing from the factory receiver hitch.

After looking at the pics, yes that hitch is rated to tow 17K wt. carrying. Doesn't matter what the tow guide says, go by what is on the hitch. As for the truck's towing capacity, you'll just have to check the towing guide and determine based on the body style, engine & axle ratio--it may be more or less than 17K.

After looking at the towing guide, it appears that the SRW trucks come with the hitch rated to 13K wt. carrying & wt. distributing, and the DRW trucks come with the hitch rated to 17K wt. carrying & wt. distributing. However, that particular body style truck--LWB, CC, 6.0L, 4.10--is rated for 13.5K max.
