Re: Hinged Box Blade to pin or not to pin? How\'d Udoit
KJ,
Thanks for the sympathy, I can sure use it right about now!
I know it wasn't the same problem. That was caused by the previous owner. Seems he had just bought the rig, put 4 new tires on it and went across a field a little too early and got stuck. Now, I'm not an expert on it by any means, but even I can use the hoe and loader to pull the tractor (had to do it to yesterday...). Seems that the previous owner didn't think about that but instead put new chains on the wheels and rocked it back and forth. In doing that, he snapped off gear teeth, but he must have gotten it out, because it was driven with broken teeth. That extra drive caused "bad" things to happen and with the binding there was more breakage. Total tally included input gear from the Sherman aux trans, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, R, countershaft and pinion gear. Plus the trans case and diff case were both cracked. Ouch.
That's why I spent 6 hours moving it from the scene of the crime back to the shop without allowing the rear wheels to rotate.
Oh well, I dusted off the book, cleaned out the shop and am off to do some disassembly.
Wish me luck, (I'm gonna need it)
