Lots of snow in Northeast Indiana this year. My driveway is sitting directly where all the snow blowing across the fields dumps.

But this has been my winter:

So I started the hillbilly snow fence experiment:

A line of pallets out in the field. The hope is that they will disrupt the wind flow and drop the snow just past the pallets and not on my drive. This isn't enough to make much difference right now, but if it works I can to find some more pallets and make a long line.

However it may be that this experiment is short lived:

The cows are pleased with the new scratching posts I supplied. They may all be knocked over before I get any results.

Since northern Indiana is flat as a pancake, isn't the word "hill"billy a misnomer? :)

It's not that wsc9tt is a hillbilly, the pallet snow fence is what a hillbilly would try, but only if they ran out of enough junk cars and washing machines to line up.

I dunno, it looks like a lot of work compared to plain old roll-up snow fence, the kind with pickets wired together used to be real popular.

we used old xmas trees about 6 feet apart for some drive ways ... anything to break up the wind and stop the drifting ( supposed to keep 2x the height clear, down wind )

If he could just round up some more cows and teach them to stay in place! :cow::cow::cow::cow:

Why don't you just push snow into a berm to create a natural buffer to cause the additional snow to drop in place. One year i spent a day piling snow about 50 feet from my drive and it lasted the rest of the winter before the drifts looked to be catching up to the lane,

One of those cows must like to have his picture taken, he's looking at you!
