Anybody have any ideas that I haven't already tried to get my 2638 hat into high range? I've tried moving it slightly back or reverse, I've tried low rpm, high rpm, shutting it off. I had to take my tractor to my daughter's house to grade her driveway, ended up driving there in mid range . A 4 mile trip took an hour!

Couple of suggestions based on what I ran into with my 2538 (earlier version of your 2638)
Check the linkage under the floor board to see if it's tight. My "gearshift" was loose where it connects to the tranny linkage.
My gearshift also hit the back of the slot in the floor board, preventing it from going into high range. So I cut out an addt'l inch of travel space. Seemed to help.
If the gearshift won't move at all from Mid range, try rocking the tractor back and forth in idle mode. Might take 10 tries, but all of a sudden it'll shift.

In the same vein, stop someplace were the the tractor can roll in neutral, place it in neutral, then while it is slowly moving try shifting into high range.

Just one thing to add from me. Don't force any of the lever. If it's not moving, it's for a reason.
In case of the range shifter, the gear teeth and/or splines have to be aligned just right for it to slide into gear. Forcing will only result in bent linkages, sheared roll pins and bent or broken shift fork.

My 3016 is similar sometimes. A combination of double-clutching, & rolls usually does it.
My Kubota RTV 500 shifting is similar: gun it, roll it, or press harder on the brake pedal.
Then sometimes, the lever on the tractor zooms past mid range..., I get H to L.

Posted this phenom once before for a range shift.... Stop on level ground , use the bucket or attachment to raise the front tires off the ground maybe a foot or less, then
idle down.. Shift into range....works every time for my 2538!
