I have been thinking of getting one of these.. There was a post one time pertaining to these, but I can't find it now.. I have read about how well they work over comealongs, and all the other great stuff they can do.. But some times what it says is not the same as it actually works.. So I am hoping some of you own one of these and can tell me what your real life expierences with them are.. Like what you have used them for, or was it worth what you payed for it or what ever else comes to mind.... I am most interested in the winch feature.. I don't find it fun when a cheap comealong flies apart while pulling a tree.. I have read this can winch like 7000 pounds.. Which is quite a bit more than my comealong. So any comments you have are welcomed..

Your help is much appreciated.. Snapper

The thing about using them for pulling is that unles you have all the slack out of the chains, cables etc. by the time the jack starts to pull you at the end of the jack.

You can find a lot of information just by using "high lift jack" for the search phrase on Google.com. One that might interest you is this link and <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=implement&Number=23691&Search=true&Forum=All_Forums&Words=high%20lift%20jack&Match=Entire%20Phrase&Searchpage=0&Limit=50&Old=allposts&Main=23633>this link</A> on the topic.

LOL....guess I never knew what they were atually called.
It was just a farm jack to me.

We grew up with them called farm jacks too, they only became hi-lift jacks after the 4x4 people started using them.
I keep one in the barn and my truck never leaves home without one too!

Be very careful when letting something down that you have jacked up, Hold on to the handle very tightly.
The handle will ratchet up and down rapidly if released, and can do damage to hands, arms and heads.
Other than that they are a very handy tool.

Snapper -

I got me one shortly after I got my tractor, along with a <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.maasdam.com/jackmate/>JackMate</A>, 'cuz I figured sooner or later I was gonna get stuck somewhere on my 42 acres.

3 years later, I still haven't gotten my tractor stuck (knock on wood), but I've used the jack a number of times for pulling some mighty stubborn posts that I couldn't reach with the tractor.
