BX 2200
I am using EZ-vac system on my BX 2200. Unable to find high lift blades for it. Checked with the dealer, and was told that Kubota doesn't make them and he couldn't find any after market ones. Has anybody found something that would work? The vac system seems to plug in the turn. I'm using a Kubota attachment, and even running full throttle it plugs usless you mow real slow. Any help would be great.

If I understand your post correctly, you are using a E-Z Vac system on the Kubota BX with the Kubota mower deck boot. The vacuum hose is not pulling the cut material out of the deck fast enough and the resulting problem is the hose or boot clogs? If my assumptions are correct, I don't believe that high lift blades are going to help resolve this problem, because the problem is the E-Z Vac system not having enough power to pull all the material that the deck cuts fast enough. This might be because the deck is larger and cuts more material than the vacuum can handle. If this is the case, then you might try to locate a smooth hose to connect the mower deck boot to the vacuum. The smooth hose will lessen the resistance and increase the flow by increasing the vacuum that is applied at the mower deck boot. I had the same problem with my Cyclone Rake when it was hooked up to the 54" mower deck on my Bolens. The resolution was to cut the grass sooner and not to mow too fast. I have not tried the Cyclone Rake with the Kubota yet because I don't have a proper boot. I know that if the 54" deck caused problems that the 60" deck is going to have even more problems. I believe that this amount of material is what is causing other to have problems with the Kubota vacuum systems and causing shear pin breakage.

Driving slower and using full throttle are both mandatory when using a lawn vacuum. In addition, don't expect to cut off more than about 2 inches at most. Also, the grass must be dry, meaning no dew or rain on the turf. Vacuum systems work great when operated according to the conditons where they can work. If you try to push them beyond their envelope, they give you a quick message by plugging in the boot.

Junkman, you are correct with my issue. I am using a 5 hp Briggs on the vac system. I heard at one time that the 5 hp must run at full throttle. I'm not sure if mine is opened up all the way( everything was in pieces when I got it. I tried setting the gov, but not sure if it's right. I once was told how to set the gov but don't recall. I think you open the throttle and turn the gov screw all the way to the ( left or right) I don't remember. but I tried both. how much more vac will I get if I change to stright pipe?

Flow is determined by the amount of restriction in a system. In fluid applications, a 90 degree turn is equal to 8' of pipe in resistance. Also, in fluid applications, if you double the size of the pipe... go from 1" to 2", you will increase the volume by 4 times. Double the size = 4 times the volume. I don't know how to figure vacuum, but I do know that a smooth pipe will lessen the resistance as opposed to the ridged pipe. As for the setting of the engine speed, possibly someone here could help you. If not, then PM me and I will give you the address of a good Briggs club on Yahoo that can give you the answer.
I haven't used my Cyclone Rake for this very reason that you are having problems.

If you have the 60"MMM did you get the boot with the deflector chute? On the 54" they don't supply the chute, but on the 60 they do. Here is a picture of my unit when I installed it. It helps deflect the grass back into the hose better thus reducing plugging I think. I can still plug my Kubota Bagger from time to time if I go to fast or it is to wet.

The deflector is the black piece you can see in this photo.

I did buy the Kubota boot, but I didn't get a defector shute. Does the shute back a big difference? I do have the 60mm.

JMP,

I am not sure if it makes a big difference as I have only used it with the deflector on. I assume thought that it is important for the 60" or Kubota would not spend extra money to make it as they don't require it on the 54".

For the $30 I would probably get it and find out myself.

Good luck
