I am a SFLO on the north end of the Olympic Peninsula. We have 72.5 acres of which ~60 acres are timber (predominately Douglas Fir and Hemlock). The remainder is the house site, open field, vegetable garden and apple and plum orchards. For 22 years the property had a weekend getaway status. I retired from civil engineering in 2009 and my wife retired from school administration in 2014. We had a new house built in 2013/14 and moved here permanently in June of 2014. For 22 years we survived with a Sears 20 hp garden tractor, 8 hp Troybilt tiller, 17 hp DR All-Terrrain Field and Brush mower and a lawnmower. Various projects over the past year made me realize that we needed more. With Kubota offering $0 down, 0% and 60 months to pay I decided they were practically giving them away. So about a month ago we purchased a BX25D and now I don't know how I lived without it before.

Welcome to the site! Congrats on the "new" place and the new tractor. You sound like many others, including myself -- Not sure how I lived so many years without a tractor.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new BX25D!

It's hard to imagine life without a tractor, isn't it? :)

Small Forest Landowner. But that works too though it does have a backhoe.

Welcome from the other peninsula. There are a number of us down here in Kitsap. My BX 25 is almost 5 years old now and never regretted getting it. I either saved a lot of rental fees or got a lot done that would not have been done. We have 20 AC of regrowing forest plus the homestand. Make sure your forest is in a set aside program for that use. I went from $3K property taxes on the land to $115 by doing that. Not sure what your county has along those lines.

We are zoned timber reserve and have a timber management plan filed with DNR and Clallam County. As long as we keep it in timber production and follow are management plan we have reduced property taxes. Change use and your taxes go up plus you owe 7 years of back taxes.

Hey 'neighbor'! Always good to hear from another local with a BX! I totally understand where you are coming from... how did I get along without this great machine for most of my life!
