Good morning,

New to this forum and looking for any information I can find on the JD 850 3T80J. S/N 0850007245CH mid 70's we think.

My husband purchased this tractor for cheap. The man he got it from thought it'd basically blown up.
We got it home and the engine is in parts in the bucket loader with other parts in various other containers.
The short of this is we have not been able to find another complete engine for it. Apparently, as is the norm around our farm, we once again got something that parts are rare for. Go figure!
Does anyone know where to go to get a new engine?
Does anyone know which other engines will reliably interchange with this model?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm going blind searching the internet.

Thank you I've been to TractorData, have the information. What I need to find is where I can get an engine or have the one we have rebuilt at.

There is a dedicated MAREKETPLACE forum here on T-B-N. MARKETPLACE is almost the bottom forum in the list.

MARKETPLACE has a WANT-TO-BUY subsection. You can post your engine want there.

You can also create an auction SEARCH on eBay, for a JD 850 engine, limited to a defined radius from your location, which will notify you by e-mail when auction with your parameters shows up. NOTE: Parts tractors show up more frequently than engines only.

I googled "Deere 850 tractor parts" and found a bunch of websites including

John Deere 850 Parts - Yesterday's Tractors

that has engine parts.

Also google "tractor dismantlers" if you want to located complete engines that may or may not be running as is (i.e. without a major rebuild).
