I bought a pre MTD Troy Bilt Super Tomahawk chipper shredder at Sears in the early nineties. Wore it out shredding the brush clearing areas of our lot. Have replaced flails and chipper blade. The 10hp b&S was always hard to start. From time to time looked for an electric start but came up empty. Recent looked at the HF engines and noticed they had electric starters. Picked up a Predator 420cc 13hp engine and it bolted right up using the the original bracket on the side of the motor. Shaft was 1 inch so pulley worked as well. Just used longer 5/16-24 bolts to maximize thread depth. Should I add some support brackets to the engine base? The original engine held fine for almost 30 years but it makes me a little nervous looking at that engine just hanging on the side. Wife wants a shredding station next to garden shed for shredding up clippings rather than putting out for trash.
