hesitation on dipper return woods bh 6500

When I have the boom and dipper extended like when in a trench and I want to pull back to scrape the bottom of the trench I push back on the joystick and it does nothing for about 2 seconds then it begins to move. Any suggestions? thanks.

Is the oil level correct in the tank, all the air purged from the system? Is the hoe powered from the tractor engine driven pump or a PTO driven pump? Does it happen all the time or after a long period of use when the oil is hot?

It is powered by the tractor pump and the oil level is within spec in the sight glass. I was thinking that maybe it does it when it is hot but I will have to confirm that this weekend. I just got it a couple weeks ago used and I am new to backhoes. It was very hot outside when I was running it and I had been using it all day. I don't know how to tell if there is air in the system.
