Hernia surgery with new tractor on it's way :(

I was on a ten pound weight limit for six weeks. Then a twenty pound limit for another six weeks. I followed it to the letter except for one slip up when I picked up my grandson without thinking. Wife yelled at me. Daughter yelled at me. Daughter called her sister who called me and yelled at me.

Too much estrogen at my place.

I behaved after that and have had NO problems. Do what the doctors say and don't get stupid and everything will be okay. Get stupid and overdo things and you will pay for it. And the payments may go on for years.

Let it heal. Let it heal. Let it heal.

Get the idea? Even if you feel like you can lift something, don't!

I had the left side done about 10 years ago and the right side done last year. I worked half day on both. Light duty and no lifting over 10lbs for a month or so, maybe a little more. Piece of cake. Very little pain, never even took an aspirin. The doc did say on the last one that he would cut a key nerve if he saw it. Mine were both considered large since I put them off for a long time. Surgery was on a Monday, I mowed weeds in a 15 acre pasture that weekend. Had to go 1 gear slower is all. Do NOT violate the 10 lb rule, I can tell you that.

Mine is "20 lbs. for two weeks", I'll see the surgeon again then. He called me himself yesterday to see how I was feeling! Getting along very good so far, tired of sleeping in the recliner already though.

I am 5# for two weeks then a little more gradually. I have no idea why I have 8 holes when everyone else has less. Recovery is taking longer than I figure it should as I have things to do. I see the Dr. Monday to find out more and ask about all the holes.

Mine was just three holes, wife had 5-6 holes, same surgeon a couple years ago. She does have more scar tissue in the area from previous surgeries, but I think it's just because I'm easier to get along with!

That is possible. I am wondering why I have staples all over and now one else does. Dr. told me I was taking the surgery to lightly. I told him I got this. He was right

lol. My wife drove me there today to look at it again. They are putting more hydraulics etc on it. I should get it next week. How bad does it suck that I will have a new tractor that I cannot climb up into? ......when anyone is looking?

I've had a number of surgerys through the years - mostly sports related stuff, and until the hernia surgery I'd say they were more uncomfortable than hugely painful. The hernia repair with mesh on the lower left abdomen was the exception. Very painful, and still hurts months later except for an area about the size of my spread hand where there is no feeling at all. I think I could get up on the tractor now, but haven't tried. The doc says most patients walk out the same day. So most of these tales sound familiar.
