kUBOTA B 8200 AND B 2910
Just got new B-2910 with a 72" MMM....have had a B-8200 HST with a 60" MMM for 19 years and it cuts BETTER than when I first got it new....Here is why...I use what I call " CROSSED BLADES "..That is...6 blades instead of 3....crossed at right angles!...I cut at 7 " to 8" in the transport mode...to make grass roots go deeper....grass is so thick you would not believe it...I use this because it gives me much more lifting power for cutting at that height.......I also HOLLOW GRIND my blades....that means at an angle of less than 21 degrees......This is very sharpe and it makes the clippings comming out of shute so small the just disappear into lawn.....There are many other things I think I can tell you guys here about things I have done to make my grass cutting capabilities better...I am looking forward to that!

Welcome to TBN, FERRARI! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I have to admit to being a little confused by the attachment to your post, the URL you included and how they both relate to using crossed blades? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

It appears to be a plane of some sort. Perhaps a reference to how fast this mower blade sharpening will allow you to cut?

I have figured out...
The grass is so high you need a plane to get over it (attached pic) but you need your blades very sharpe because you never know what you will hit and you need to be sure you kill it. (last link)
The other is just a pic of his tractor every one has to some a few of them /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Gravely owners have been taking advantage of crossed blades for years. Also the Gator type of blades are very nice.

That some kind of a plane is a sailplane or glider....no motor...we fly them here in Sequatchie Valley....which is heaven for soaring...on the east coast that is......I was trying to get it to post as my picture but it will not post...file is too large for server I guess......anyway......When you cross blades it greatly improves you cutting ability...here is a view of Tornado damage I got about 2 weeks ago with old B8200 Hst in foreground...it still cuts good and has over 3000 hours on it......New tractor came the next day

Thanks, And I am sorry about my newbie capabilities...I just got my first on line computer about a month ago......Just learned to post pictures....CAN YOU TELL?

Well, I tell you what, That picture of your lawn is testimony enough of your grass cutting abilities. Absolutely beautiful. I used to have a green lawn. nearly five thousand square feet of it. Then it stopped raining here and I can never remember to turn on the sprinklers and I got a new tractor and drove on what used to be a lawn and now I have dirt. But my girls are happy cause they can add their own water and make mud and then mud pies /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif and I am happy cause I have a tractor /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif and my wife is happy cause the bathroom got remodeled /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Besides if the lawn looked nice I would have to worry about keeping it nice but hey, yours does look beautiful. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thank you for the compliment, but in that picture I had stopped cutting, because of my lack of rain.....We are having the driest spring ever recorded here in Tennessee.in over 110 years according to NOAA .....I have learned to stop cutting when the weather is too dry because here it will shock the grass too much....I have not had but 2 inches of rainfall in the last 6 weeks!...This is usually our wet season......This is one of the benefits of cutting so high......7 to 8 inches high......Withstands drought MUCH better....Thanks again!

Doesn't anyone want to argue about how dangerous this is?.....Or about how it will wear out the bearings in the spindles on deck?

There is enough arguing about other things without trying to provoke a new one. If it works for you, great. I am not going to try it, because I don't believe that I have better knowledge than the engineers that designed the unit in the beginning. Backyard engineering can and often does lead to disastrous results. I value all my body parts and the lawn isn't that important that I will take extra chances beyond those that I already do by just mowing it. In my many years as a medic, I have seen the results of backyard engineering. I don't want to be the subject of a post in the safety forum. Good luck with your device and keep doing what you are comfortable with, and hopefully it will never backfire in your face or legs.... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
