Once again, far north crocs and cassowary, down here not much apart from rabid politicians but i think that is universal.

I agree the venom level seems a little higher down under. Brown tree snakes, huntsman spiders, blue ring octupi....
Better than India though, where the cobras (kraits) are named by the number of steps you will take after the bite, e.g. 7 step, 9 step, 21 step krait.
But the people and other local inhabitants make up for it in my mind.

Between the mice, the spiders, the snakes and the floods, it has been a rough week down under. I hope that things improve.

Brown tree snakes and huntsmen are not venomous, blue ringed octopus only nasty if you pick them up, cobras I remember from my time in Malaysia at the RAAF base, they put cyclone fences along the runways to keep the locals from setting up camps and during the wet season the snakes could be seen woven into the fences to get abopve the flooded sections below the runways, cobras mainly and hundreds of the buggers not just the odd few.
