Help with Yanmar 2210 maybe a blown head gasket but would like opinions

Well, I have never heard a 2 cyl yanmar running. I thought in the 1st. vid. that it sure was knocking loud, but I've heard the guys mention that 2 cylinders have a loud knock when running so, I didn't give the knock any thought

No muffler , didn't help either as far as being able to use the ears for diagnostic.

I've read that an occasional refurb 2210 was found to have a YM2000/YM240 engine in it instead. That, or even YM1700, maybe even YM1900, broadens what you can search for if you decide to swap in a running engine.

Added: and the 2Q-something sailboat diesel shares a block with YM2000. Also some kind of (1980's) ThermoKing reefer unit used on the top-front of refrigerated trailers.


Add some more: this guy is one state over. He used to have a boneyard of Yanmars similar to yours. He hasn't posted on here for a long time so I don't know if this is still the case.

By "short block" do you mean an actual rebuilt engine minus head and accessories? Didn't know any existed.

I had a question. Saying it was running hotter. What would the running temp be on the 2210??
I replaced head gasket and put the finish mower on, and took a look at temp and just started to go over 190° shuther down right on the spot. Let her cool. Took cap off and finished the lawn..
Info on running temp would be awesome!!!
