Kubota BX2370
I am selling my one year old Kubota BX2370. I simply don't use it enough to justify keeping it. I have a Hustler that I have been using to cut the lawn and think I will merge the two machines into one Grasshopper.

Since the machine has <40hrs, and a lot of equipment, I am unsure as to where to start the price.

I have a FEL(with BXPanded Tooth Bar) and quick disconnect bucket FEL
60" MM deck with mulch kit
New Land Pride SB 1050 3 point snowblower
Kubota dozer blade with hydraulics
ballast box
2" wheel spacers
under armor(BXPanded)
LED work lights

I was offered $14 K for a trade in on a new Grasshopper...but, I have a line on a used one I would like to purchase and would like some pricing guidance. Obviously the dealer needs to make money...so, is $14K too low for a starting price?

I also would welcome any and all thoughts on a Grasshopper with a Kubota diesel engine. I have a very flat, but very long driveway(about 850 feet) that I would like to either plow or snow blow with the GH. Is this reasonable?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Interesting problem to have... I have no experience with selling such new equipment, and more to the point, something with all those expensive (but useful, for the right buyer) add-ons. What if you took the cost of everything and tried to reduce it enough that a reasonable person would be interested in buying for cash, almost new but still, used? If you had invested, say, $21,000, (just guessing, obviously) then maybe someone would be okay paying $17,000 for it? $14,000 sounded low to me, but then again, I am not really familiar with the BX2370.
Many of us here would find your progress in this interesting to follow, I am sure. Oxford?? UK?

Thanks for the reply. I guess the "gap" between new and "almost" new is what I am having a problem quantifying. I also need to find the right avenue to sell it as Craigslist tends to bring out the worst in many situations.
Oxford, PA. Just outside of Elkton Maryland(about an hour from Philly).

Thanks again.

Most people would buy new for the 0% than pony up for almost new saving a few quid.

True enough... shiny new always gets a premium... drive it off the lot and ouch. And the 0 down 0 interest is a big factor (was for me). That said, add up your investment and discount it a significant amount below what someone would have to pay in interest for a consumer loan over 5 years to buy your stuff compared to new and show them your numbers. You have to be a salesman if you want to get the most out of your tractor and accessories.

Thank you all for your views. They make sense. I recognize that in order to entice a buyer, I will now need to price it accordingly. I just adjusted my price on the machine to 14K. Someone will be getting a very good deal.

Robert, before I gave all those goodies away for $14,000, I would make sure it is clean, take some good photos of the tractor and its accessories, and post it for sale on Craig's List. I have sold two used, clean Kubotas that way, for fair prices for both me and the buyer. In looking at Tractorhouse.com, I see that BX2370's sell for less than I guessed, but still, with your collection of attachments, I would think you could get $15,500 or so. Or make someone's day (month?) by letting it go for $14K.

If you can get $14K in trade then I would jack your price above that... or you might as well save some time and hassle and just trade it in. Try $15.5K and drop it to $15K to make the deal. If that doesn't work then trade it in.

The reason I wasn't wanting to do the trade is that I was looking to be a used machine from a private owner. The only way for me to get the 14K on trade would be to buy a new GH from the dealer.

Thanks again for all of the suggestions!

I would depreciate the total cost by 20% and if you can get that it is a pretty good deal for you the seller. If the trade in depreciates your investment by 30% or more the buyer is getting a very good deal

First off . . A kubota bx or a massey gc are both great sub compact tractors . . I considered both for quite some time. I'm also familiar with the Grasshopper products . . And you are looking at fine machinery in that American made product.

It had to be one of the nicest setups for snowblowing I've seen. You sit right behind the blower and above it. You'll have excellent traction because they are heavy machines and 2 differentials give you absolute traction control and weight balance. Also makes a great front mount mower with lots of years of easy maintenance.

As to valueing your Kubota setup .
. . . Lets try this. I got a bid a few months ago on a brand new bx2370-1 (newer model and year than yours) with 60 inch mmm and fel and loaded tires and engine plug heater with rebate and shipping/tax was 14,150. That included full warranty.

Some of your extras are 200 items and some are much more.

Is your warranty tranferable or not?

I think a different model year isn't a big issue . . But yours is a different model . . Not just an aging. I'd say what I described above for price minus 1200 for the year difference and 1500 reduced for used. Then factor in warranty or no warranty is a 1500 drop if no warranty. Now add in the other items not listed above at your cost and take 10% off of their value for used and then if not warranty available another 8% of their cost to you take off.

Don't forget my bid included tax or shipping which were about the same number (725).

I'm thinking if I didn't confuse you .
. . That the final number should be close to what you should get (not ask). Remember . . my quote was good pricing not list or close to list.

Point is . . Your unit would have been a good one for me at the time . . and if I was selling it . . I'd position it as here is a price for what you'll eventually want all in one set price . . No hidden extras needed.

I wouldn't try to sell on craigslist myself . . I'd use area wide shopper publications that hit the rural areas 100 mile radius. They are cheap and effective.

And that grasshopper option . . Its a better choice than backing up to snowblow :)

I did wind up selling the Kubota for north of 14K. It's funny, I was having mixed feelings about the sale as the machine really came in handy when needed. Not too long after the sale, I had a chance to buy a BX2660 with Curtis Cab/heat, FEL, Front Hydro Blade, new Kubota grass catcher, front Kubota snowblower, new mower deck and 2 sets of wheels and tires. Machine has 350 hours and is in excellent shape. I balked as I wasn't sure about having the "luxury" of a machine that would get little use. I balked...until I was able to get the price down to a number that made it impossible to pass up. The same money that I sold the last BX for I got this one...with a heck of a lot more equipment. I am pretty happy with the deal and will likely be able to lower the cost by selling off the grass catcher and mower deck. I will also likely now sell the snowblower I bought for the Grasshopper. While it worked pretty well, it certainly cannot compare to the versatility and power of the Kubota.

Thanks for all of the input and guidance. It is appreciated.

BTW, I just sold the BX2370...it only had a few months of warranty remaining. I realized I posted this last August.

I also picked up a used Grasshopper with collection, Kubota engine, plow blade, and power fold deck. 100 hours for less that 1/2 the price of new.
