This tree seems to have sprouted green berries over the last day or two.
Any idea as to the tree name, and the berry toxicity to horses?

TIA

Not a good picture, but looks like it might be a plum tree. Did it have blossoms already? What does the bark look like?

If plum, it is in the Prunus family and you might find some information on the web about any toxicity, or call your vet to ask.
I thought only walnut was toxic (Juglans) but heard recently about wild black cherry also being toxic. But seems horses can have sensitivity to a lot of things that they try to eat in excess, and maybe some horses have allergic reactions to certain things just like people and drugs, and things like poison ivy - bothers some but not everyone.
Keeping an eye on the condition of the horses if they are feeding on these leaves would be a good idea - then you can let us know what their reaction is. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

It looks like a Hackberry. It's not toxic to horses. It's a beneficial tree for wildbirds.

Wild cherry is definitely toxic as the prevous poster said but that's not a wild cherry.

Does look like a hackberry. A picture of the bark on the trunk would be helpful. Hackberry tree bark has rough warts on a fairly smooth bark.

With cattle, the wild cherry is only toxic when the leaves are wilted, ie, after a storm has broken off the limbs, etc. I think the nitrates convert somehow to cyanide. Can be very deadly.

Thanks for the ID's so far. I am still doing more research.
I need to pen off an area around this tree, but was still concerned over the berries, and leaves once they drop.

Here is the trunk. It really is a great tree, very BIG.

It does look like a hackberry from here. Their bark is very gnarly and rough over a smooth skin like mentioned earlier.

That looks like the hackberry tree that was right behind my mailbox at the end of the driveway.

That helps.
Hackberry is a good bet.
