Help with this old cultivator!

The pins are recessed above the front of the cultivator. When I attach the lift arms they hit the angle iron when I only lift it a few inches off the ground. This is how it was assembled when I got it, is it assembled wrong?

Maybe you can use it without connecting the top link,, the cultivator would lift by hitting the three point lift arms,,,

kinda a throw back to the early lift systems on some tractors,,
a two point lift,,,

I think the brackets that hold the pin for the 3 point hitch are backwards, the angle iron is probably not original, and maybe not be needed if the brackets are reversed (left to right, and from outside to inside)
And maybe the bottom holes of the "A" connect to the pin bolts as well.

The bottom pins normally line up with the top pin from front to back. Might be an indicator of which way the brackets should be assembled.

Edit: Almost makes me think that the bracket can be mounted either way.

This is how it looked when I got it. The flat bar that runs front to back was broken on one side and on the other the lift pins was missing. I replaced the flat bar with angle iron because that's what was in my garage. When I replaced the lift pins I had to move the top pin bar back because I was unable to drill them to match the new liftpin bolt size. I didn't try turning the bracket down I will give that a try, but I did turn them so they face out and the way they sit inside the tool bar the bolt holes don't line up. The exploded view is great but it looks like they use a better bracket on that model!

The cultivator May have been designed for an older tractor on which the lift arms are mounted much higher.

Looks like to me the arm with orange arrows are on the wrong side of angle bar, that angle bar top lip needs to be cut off or replace with 3/8" flat bar, and the front arm needs to be on same front pin bolt.

I think if I follow correctly everything you said is correct, but I only had angle to work with, I will probably swap it out but I haven't had time to get to the steel store. Either way it doesn't move where the pin is located and the tool bar and lift arm are what interfere with each other, I will mount it up and get some pictures today.

Spent some time with the grinder and modified the bracket so they would fit backwards. Also got some flat steel and changed out the angle. Now I just gotta get it mounted and test the fit.
