Hi I am new here. I have a new Branson 3510. PTO would not engage, dealer says to adjust the free play on the clutch pedal for 1". It already appears to be adusted at 1", tightened it a little more and the PTO will engage. Concerned that I might be slightly engageing the drive clutch because. It is unclear to me what it considered free play. Is the free play where the you feel the most resistance or the total free play feel when pushing in the clutch? The PTO and drive seem to be operateing just not sure if there is a problem or even if I have it adusted right. Any help would be appreciated. Great Tractor by the way have 47 hours on it.

I searched this forum and might have found the solution. Saw a few threads where the clutch free play was adjusted to 3/4", 5/8" and 3/8". I adjusted mine to about 5/8". I quess this is a safe thing to do. The manual says 25mm to 35mm about 1" to 1 1/2. Is the manual incorrect?

When I got my 3510 a year and a half ago, had to adjust clutch free play to 5/8" and since then the PTO has engaged just fine. Don't think I'm doing any damage to the clutch - doesn't seem to be slipping any. A Century manual I downloaded calls for 3/4" to 1-1/4", so I don't suppose an 1/8" reduction would be unreasonable; plus my dealer recommended I adjust it to 5/8".
