Before I ask advice on repairs, I need to figure out some part numbers. I have had a major failure with my 232 FEL on what was my father's MF 250. I have been overseas for 2 years, and my youngest son ran the tractor in my absence.

In short, the loader mount lost bolts, and the bolts left got overloaded, so now I am looking for a replacement transmission housing, or a new tractor.

I have a part number for the housing , 1867505M5, and have determined that is the actual part number, not the unit serial number as some have thought.

My question is about the "M5" portion of the number, I have found used 231, 240 and 265 tractors with "1867505" numbers on the transmission casing, but the "M" portion of the number has been 2, 3 or 4.

Is that like a revision number? Would a salvage part work with my MF 250?

Thanks in advance, and my apologies if this is posted wrong. I was planning on posting my questions about splitting the tractor in the repair section once I got to that point.

You would probably be better off to just get a complete transmission out of a junked tractor and swap out. Where do you live probably could be junk yard close to home. Have rebuilt transmission in some masseys if you decide to go with a housing get a book and some very good snap ring pliers for these transmissions have very big and stiff snap rings.
