I'm trying to pick up a tier 3 tractor before they are gone but keep going back and forth between sizes.
It will be used to maintain a 20 acre Laser Tag battlefield, gravel entrance and 70 car parking lot. The battlefield areas vary from wooded to city type scenario fields. Tractor would be used to bushhog the entire property a few times a year. Loader work for construction and maintenance of the field areas, and the drive and parking lot maintenance.

I like the 3038 just not sure if I should go bigger. 3039 or 4041. Worry about the maneuverability of a bigger tractor in wooded areas. And the parking lot maintenance with a smaller one.

Thanks
Brad

The 3039 has a lot more features than the 3038. The 4041 is a heavier more capable machine.

I have a 4041 and am very surprised at how easy it is to maneuver, I get around in my woods easily. Very pleased with it so far. (43 hrs).

Mate, if you can afford it go for the 4041.

You will not regret having the extra horsepower... better to have too much than not enough when you need it. And don't skimp on the FEL, you'll be using that more than any other implement.

I use my R4047 in heavy woods very frequently, and it's not a problem to maneuver in tight spaces. Besides, it's got enough power to move most stuff out of the way if you really need to :D

In reality, the difference between a 3038 and 4041 is pretty minor when it comes to size, and being able to move through the woods. If you had barn stalls to fit in, or a narrow doorway to go through, it would be different....but it doesn't sound that way.

I love my 4047. Great maneuverability for its size. Only slightly larger than the 30 series but a lot more machine in my opinion. Totally worth a couple extra thousand bucks.

Figure 5 PTO HP/foot of brushhog and you need 30 HP to swing a 6 ft cutter. Width saves a lot of time. For 5 ft or less pull a Swisher behind an ATV. To level field with a box blade, weight is your friend so heavier tractor is better. And I can't think of any reason to have smaller FEL. Go big!

I'm going to agree with the general consensus here. While the G and the R3039 are both fine tractors, the difference between the two is more about features/comfort/convenience, etc. Their weight and general capabilities are very close to each other. The big R's, however, are half a ton heavier, will handle the loader work with more ease, balance, and speed; and as already mentioned will be better for brush hogging, unless you're a fan of narrower n' slower. Compared to a G, The R4000's are just a tiny bit wider and have a wheelbase that's just a couple inches longer, so there's not a big step down in maneuverability at all.

The R4041 and 4047 are standouts in an already outstanding lineup, and I don't think anybody else touches them when you compare the full package of price/capabilities/features/warranty.

I was settled on the 3039 until I got some advice here on TBN. I jumped up to the 4041H and I can see now that I needed the bigger tractor for what I am doing. I am glad I listened. Good luck with your decision.

General rule of thumb anymore seems to be, figure out which size tractor you want/need, then go 1 size larger (budget willing of course). Tractors will shrink after just a couple hours of use.
