Help with idea

Hi all. I am looking to increase the speed of a turf aerator. Specifically a Verti Core 1700. Its an older model, they have since replaced it with a Verti Core III 1600. Just background. Company link here so you can see what I am talking about. Golf and Sports Turf Equipment since 1980 I Redexim

Anyway, I am asking is there a gearbox I can change on this? Or change gears inside instead? I am looking for a 10-20% increase in operation so my ground speed can increase. I know this may sound extreme, but I am needing a slight speed increase.

Please, ideas and suggestions are appreciated.

I would pull a drum with spikes, then any speed the tractor goes the aeration happens.

If you are not pulling plugs, (or drilling ,as in post #3, It's a waste of time and effort.

The increase in operational speed could cause some issues but your idea sounds pretty doable. After a quick look at the documentation on their site I would say you have two options. Change the gear ratio in the double 90 degree gearbox or change the drive pulley ratio on the triple v-belt drives by increasing the diameter of the drive pulley. You could decrease the driven pulley diameter but that could increase belt slippage.

• 90 degree double gearbox: Could be be difficult to source and probably expensive.
• Drive pulley ratio change: I think there is a belt set on each side so 2x on everything. The drive sheave looks like it uses Dodge Taper Lock bushings so its pretty easy to change pulley diameters then install the new correct length belt sets. The belt tensioner might need a little fab work if it interferes with your new desired drive pulley diameter. Relatively inexpensive and easy to change back.
