help with Ferguson disc

/ help with Ferguson disc #11
Hi:

Now to research weighing it down, 45 pounds/lineal foot if IRC. As I am playing with concrete these days, proabbly the easiest thing is to cast some weights.

Thanks again for assistance.

Wooden bearings will wear out fast if you weight it down...

Should dig just fine when angled aggressively based on the geometry of the design.

Keep that wood greased liberally and it will last a long time. Most of the Dunham cultipackers are on wood bearings. Old technology, but works fine. Ken Sweet

hi:

Thanks for the warnings re wearing out the bearings. They are already well worn. The mating castings too. I am just a former city kid putzing on 3/4 of an acre, so I don't need it to last real well. Plus. I have a wood lathe, so in principal can make new parts.

I got 4 concrete weights made, so some time in the next few days I will give it a try. Hopefully it will be better, as I didn't get the impression that things were converging to a nice flat field without weights.
