Help with adding a valve for third function

I am an electrician and know nothing about hydraulics so I am looking for a little help.

I want to add a third function on my Kubota L3010 loader to control the power angle on my Curtis snow plow. I have removed the the two SA cylinders on the plow and added a single DA cylinder on the plow. I have already been down the road of adding an electric solenoid valve to divert the flow from the curl circuit, and thanks to all the knowledgable posters here on this site, I found that it does not work because of the regen circuit on my current Husco 4 way valve. So I believe, without going for a lot more money, I have no other option other than to add a single double acting spool valve with PB. I see these third function kits out there but I have already dumped a bunch of $$ into this project and have been failing so I am looking for the cheapest way out at this point. I have found a valve on Surplus Center and it is about $180

With so many valves out there I am very confused. Should I just be looking for an Open Center double action valve with PB or is there something else I should be looking for?

With regards to the plumbing, please tell me if I am wrong... I believe I need to come off the PB on my Husco 4 way loader valve and plumb it to the pressure side of the new valve and then take the PB side of the new valve to the the same port that the Husco Loader valve ties into now. What do I do with the Tank port on the new valve? Do I somehow T this into the main loader valve tank line?

Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

The diverter should have worked, you just need to stay out of the regen circuit. Is that something that can't be done with your valve?

You have the plumbing right as far as a new PB valve, and yes you can just tee into the existing tank line.

Apparently I can't avoid the regen on my loader valve. I have tried to operate the valve minimally and the cylinder will still only go in one direction. My understanding of the regen circuit is that you still need help from the weight of the device such as a bucket on the loader, to pull the cylinder in the one direction and the cylinder will then operate properly but apparently with nothing helping the cylinder move in the opposite direction the DA cylinder will not work properly either.

I am not sure where you are at in your situation.

Like MtnViewRanch said, you should have been able to operate the DA cyl using the correct procedure.

A lot of Kubota loader valves have the regen in the first part of lever throw, and is useful when dumping a bucket load.

Here is a way to test if your valve will operate a DA cyl.

With the bucket lever on the ground, tilt the bucket down and see if you can raise the front wheels off the ground. You probably will not be able to raise the wheels off the ground.

Now, with bucket flat on the ground, Move the lever all the way to the end to dump the bucket and see if the front wheels raise off the ground.

In regen, the tank port is blocked so all fluid flow goes to the base end and pump flow is added to the rod side flow.

If you only have one SA cyl on the plow, what is going to force the cyl to retract?

My suggestion would be to re-install the DA cyl and push the lever to the end of lever movement to extend the cyl in the power mode.

I don't have the SA cylinders on the plow. I removed them with the hope that adding a single DA cylinder would eliminate the regen problem but not so.

I am little confused with your statement about putting the bucket lever(?) on the ground vs. putting the bucket flat on the ground.

If I place the bucket flat on the ground I cannot raise the wheels off the ground but if I raise the bucket 2" off the ground then dump the bucket I have problem lifting the machine off the ground.
The loader on my machine has DA cylinders on both the lift and curl.

Your lever gas a soft detent to indicate full power.

When you start to move the lever from neutral, you are in regen, and if you keep moving the lever more right, you will be in the power mode,

The regen circuit (joystick to the right) needs to be hooked up to extend the rod in that direction. If trying to retract the cylinder when moving joystick right, swap the hoses at the cylinder and try it.

No, you can't avoid the regen in the valve, but you can go past the regen part of the spool by going more right. There is usually a soft stop, or small indentation in the spool to let you know you are in the power mode.

Did you try to raise the front wheels like I suggested?

Are you using the curl circuit to curl the bucket down with the bucket flat on the ground. If you can not cause the front wheels to raise, then you should check the pressure on your loader valve.

A regen valve will operate a DA cyl if done correctly.

You simply can not operate a DA cyl in regen because the tank line is blocked off and the rod end fluid is going to the base end for more speed and less force.

I am puzzled by the fact that you have not tried what I suggested, or you simply don't believe what I am saying.

This post will go on and on if you non't act on all the suggestions.

Can you post the Part number on the HUSCO valve that is fitted to your machine? I would try what SSdoxie suggested.

I think SSdoxie has the correct answer. Reverse the hoses and try again.
