I'm trying to be a nice neighbor and now I'm neck deep into this. I started with a couple of bucket cylinder seals. I finished those and as I pulled it out of the shop i noticed a puddle under the steering. The seal is blown on the steering cylinder. I got it out and on the bench, can someone point me to a "how to disassemble"? From the looks of the parts fiche I'd say the caps unscrew, but I don't see how.

Help?

Jeff

Get ahold of Messicks online in Penn and see if they have info/diagrams/manuals on it.

Got it. Pretty simple actually, push the end caps in, pop out the wire clip, ta da.

Well, I didn't notice the damage on the shaft, but oddly that side wasn't the leaker. I wonder if it never goes in that far and the rod is usable or if she is going to have to find a new one. I have no way of knowing no that it is apart. Anyone with an L2900 that can do a visual for me? stop to stop? She is going to have a heart attack when she see the cost of these parts.

That looks like the chrome has came off in that spot.
That spot could be repaired with spray weld, check your local machine shops.
