Ya, I was looking at the price difference and I think it is better I use the UDT. I'm sure from Kubota they use standard UDT. Think I will more then 12 gallons for the HST?

it's 41.5 quarts of UDT or SUDT for the trans case.

5.8 qts for the front axle

The DEALER probably put UDT in it, but the FACTORY service manual ONLY lists SUDT. That is different than the owners manual. It will work fine on UDT, but winter performance will be, shall we say, sluggish? Like pumping molasses!

Don't forget to blow out the outer air cleaner filter and all the grease points.

I would also say to keep the FEL and BH on the machine. Minimal gain by removing the BH and ZERO gain by taking off the FEL.

My L3130 is about ready for 400 hour service so I called my local dealer for price on SUDT. $112.xx for 5 gals and $58.xx for 2.5 gals. I will continue to use SUDT since the HST is so much quieter and smoother with it plus we can have some high temperatures here. If you will be operating much in the cold weather I would go with SUDT. Since our cold weather is mild I do not do long warm up times. about 5 minutes.

I cut down an unused plastic 55 gallon barrel to drain the fluids into. I cut it around 14 or so inches high and slide it under the tractor. That's a pretty good amount of fluid and the barrel works just fine. You can then transfer it to your lidded 5 gallon buckets, after you empty them into the tractor. That's the way I do it.

Biggest thing is a container big enough to hold over 12 gallons, got a steel wash tub. Drain at bottom of transmission by plate for mid PTO one on each side by axel housings and may be another in middle not sure. You will need a bucket pump to get oil back in as it is hard to pour with funnel. On the GST I used SUDT and on a Hydro I would also use it for sure.

I just used an old galvanized wash tub. But, when it is full, it is too heavy to lift and pour. So, I used an old coffee can to empty it into the empty buckets the new fluid came in. But, this wash tub gets used for other things (maybe I should consider one of those new fangled washing machine thingys for the wife) so I have to clean it out after it has hydraulic fluid in it. I like Dave's idea of cutting down an old plastic barrel.

Can someone post a picture of the Kubota SUDT gallon jug?

My dealer says they only carry one kind and being from the north I am thinking it is SUDT but all my container says is premium UDT.

Thanks....

About that waste oil. I have used about every conceivable container for the oil. Finally broke down and bought a Blitz 42008C. Just do a search. About $65 on sale. Holds all the tractor oil, diesel truck oil, motorcycle oil ... in one container.
