Help? STX30 won't stay running

My STX30 won't keep running. After about 5 to 10 minutes it stalls and won't restart. At times backfiring while it is running during the 5 ro 10 minutes. Have installed new spark plug, checked/cleaned air filter, made sure vent on gas cap is good. Any suggestions?

Fuel line filter? Spark at the plug? Old fuel? Debris in the fuel tank?

forgot to mention: replaced fuel filter, I did check spark, and have used new fuel. Did NOT check the fuel tank for debris - thanks.

Could be a magneto problem. Sometimes they work cold but get buggy when warm.

When the engine quits grab a spark checker and see if you still have a good strong spark like when the engine is cold.

My STX 38 with the 13 Kohler did the same thing and I went through alll of the abolve steps, but the last step solved the problem, cleaning my fuel tank.

where is the magneto and how do I get to it if I wanted to replace it??

ordered and installed new ignition module - so far so good. Part number was Kohler 12-584-04-s. found on Repair Parts for All Major Brands - DIY Repair | eReplacementParts.com
