HELP! PTO is stuck on!

'77 Ford 4000 has rear PTO stuck on. On/off lever moves freely but won't turn it off. Seems to have happened at about the same time shear pin snapped on McKee snowblower after pushing into icy bank. Not sure if related or just a coincidence. Tractor is a loaner I REALLY need to make right again ASAP. Any thoughts?

did you follow the linkage all the way down to make sure it didn't come apart? See if the free movement goes all the way into the housing.

If it is a 4000 with independent PTO it will have to be split between the transmission and rear axle. Several scenarios are possible. The good news is that any parts required are still available. The joys of borrowing!
