Price Check Help pricing older B1700

I'm in the market for a newer tractor ... but I'll have to get rid of a late '70's B1700 ... and I have no idea how to price it. The JD dealer (I was looking at the 790) said he'd give me about $1500 for it for trade-in value.

That seems low to me, as it is in good shape, and would include a roto-tiller (48").

I'm thinking of listing it in the paper ... but for what price? Could anyone help me?

By the way ... I'm thinking of buying either a JD 790 or TC-30 ... the Kubota dealer is too far away for routine work. Anyone with experience with these machines?

Do you mean a late '70's B7100 or an early '90's B1700? Is it a gear drive or hydrostatic trans, how many hours, bare tractor with a 48" (what brand) tiller, what kind of tires? This would help with determining a value.

It's a late 1970's B7100, gear drive, 4WD, with 1300 hours. The tiller is a Kubota as well. Tires are turf tires.

Check www.machinerylink.com. I couldn't find the exact listing but it looks like the going price is around $3000 not including any attachments.

You should be able to get more than $1500 for it, for sure. Where are you located? I know of a couple folks looking for a tractor about that size.

My neighbor has the TC-30. Nice tractor, he's really happy with it.

EEK I would drive 10 hours one way to buy it for that price. I believe in pricing high with compact tractors, especially with the power of Kubota name recognition. I recently sold a 78 B6000 2wd with mid mower and tiller for $3500 and had many, many calls. With your larger, 4wd tractor I would throw it out at $5,000 to hunt for 'sucker'. Then gradually drop your price if you get inpatient. There are so few clean compact tractors out there that many people have limited choices. Also keep in mind that the tiller alone should draw $500 used...
