Hello,

Can a front snowblower be installed on a 6 year old Mahindra 1816?

I saw an old thread that suggested that the answer is no, however, I have heard opinions that YES, it can be done?

Your help could save me a costly mistake.

They do make kits that uses a standard rear blower work up front.
I basically involves a gear box driven by the pto that drives a long shaft that connects to the blower up front.
A ladder like mount is slung under the tractor and joins up to the blower and used some support bearings and a few U-joints.
Hydraulics lift the unit.

This type rig is generally adaptable to a variety of tractors.
I would suggest that this type rig would want to be used only with a hydro-static drive tractor.

I actually had such a unit but reverted it to rear PTO installation as my tractor is 3 speed manual drive and 1st low was just too fast for most snow conditions.
At that rev low even sometimes too fast as well and rev is about 1/2 speed of 1st fwd.

Thank-you for your response Piloon.

You are describing a front snowblower set-up, which is for sale, that a fellow claims to have had on a 1816. . However, when I started reading TBN I came across an older post where a Mahindra dealer, advising someone else, indicated that the 1816 could not (should not?) take a front snowblower.
