Help on oil leak valve cover Cadet 782

Don't know what is going on, oil bubbles out of retaining bolt on cylinder 2 (left) when model 782 17 hpp KT17 is running. Tightened bolt, still bubbles out....

Ideas?

Not sure if this helps or provides any ideas, but my Cub 1864 (Kohler 18hp) had been leaking around the valve covers. Bolts were fairly tight, so I decided to take the two valve covers off. Cleaned the head seal area up with a mill knife and alcohol, did the same to the plastic valve covers. Used some RTV/Permetex and put them back on. You may try putting a little bit of Permetex around the head of the bolt so it seals against the top of the valve cover? Not sure how well that would work though

I have about 5hrs of use so far, and everything seems to be fine, well almost, I have a PTO seal leak I'm fixing now, but that's a different story.

The KT17 is just a flathead/L engine, so removing the heads and replacing the gaskets is a very easy job, just unbolt them, remove them, put on new gaskets (avail at small engine/Kohler shops), and properly retorque the heads back down- should get rid of the leak which is probably residual blow-by oil getting past the gasket.
