Now that I have your attention - I need to lube the drawer slides on my toolchest , top box, and rollaway cabinet. The drawers are not ball bearing , but rather steel slides. They work relatively well but there has to be a suitable lubricant out there that will make them work better. All of the grease I have tried makes the drawers sticky and hard to slide. Heavy weight oil just does not last, runs everywhere and makes a mess, same with light weight oil.

Need something that will stick to slides/runners, work smoothly, not run??

Any suggestions. thanks

Afternoon Dullpain,
Perhaps a small amount of powdered graphite ?;)

Try a solid chunk of home-canning paraffin wax. Its easy to rub on the sliding surfaces, no overspray, and any chips that fall off won't stain. I use it a lot for wood drawers, metal drawers, wood screws, and even for a dust resistant lube on the threads of my 3-point upper link. And it's easy to carry a chunk in the toolbox.

Probably the best lubricant I have ever used is Prizim made by Drummond American. It starts out as thin as alcohol and when the solvent dries it turns into a great sticky type stay put lube. Great for door slides, hinges, door strikers, garage door tracks, etc... My single favorite lube in a can.

Try bees wax, it is easy to put on and lasts forever

Ditto
Never tried it on metal drawers but on wood screws and circular blades cutting aluminum siding it works well.

I 3rd the motion for silicone or super lube. This is what JD recommends on its 3ph balls and swivels. I've used it on shower door slides/wheels, screen door slides (made it work A WHOLE LOT BETTER) and other sliding surfaces.

Remove any of that stuff you've tried with solvent or alcohol. You can clean up any silicone gook after look use with denatured alcohol.
