Aloha,

I'm looking to purchase a JD CUT for coffee operations in Kona. In order to begin growing organic, I'm considering a "Mow-Around" from Butler Enterprises in TN. It will reach out under the trees to mow weeds thereby eliminating the need for herbicide.

Attached is a photo of the MowAround that would work great for me. The photo shows the south end of a JD. Anyone recognize the machine from the lights, etc?

I am pretty sure that looks like a 855 or 955. I think a 755 would be smaller.

Looks like a 755 CUT, like mine.

So, how does a 755 compare to a 2520 in its ability to tow a 1000lb MowAround?

The 2520 has 26.5hp while the 755 has something like 20 or 22hp.

Fred,

Having owned a 755, and knowing the capabilities compared to today's tractors and especially the 2210 I now have, I would definately put the tractor in the 2520 class. The hp is somewhat lacking, but the hydraulic power was there.

Hi, Fred,

I live near Akaka Falls, on the other side of the island from you. . . .
A good rule of thumb in buying a tractor is to figure out what your baseline need is and then to buy two steps up in power. You'll find a way to use it.

I expect if you buy JD you'll be going to American Machinery. If so, you'll find Wayne Cummins a straight shooter.

Cheers, Mark

Looking at the ROPS geometry, I'd say 770, 855 or 955. Rear fenders also look like one of those machines.
