Help identifying Troy-Bilt Horse

Hello,

I just purchased a used Troy-Bilt Horse tiller with a 8HP Kohler engine. I'm excited, but overwhelmed. I am first trying to identify which type of Horse I have: I, II, III, IV, or PTO.

All I can find is a sticker on the covering over the tines that says Horse (no number next to it). I did find the serial number stamped on a flange on the right side of the tiller. The number is 721149 (I think).

Any help?

The serial number is a Horse I manufactured in April 1984. You should visit the troybilttillerclub group on yahoo. Lots of experience on that group.

Great! Thanks for the help. I will download the owner's manual and parts manual from the Troy-Bilt webiste.

Can you recommend a good place to obtain parts? I need a new airfilter for the Kohler engine.

The moderator of the group I mentioned is a longtime certified Troybilt dealer and has NOS going back to the Garden Way days. If they ever made it, he probably has a few still in stock. Look for Bill Rodgers in the messages and you will find his business info.

I have been a member of this group for a long time. The knowledge there is very helpful and the transmission manual I posted has been downloaded many times by members now. one of the members put it on his personel site so it could be downloaded by all as I was only allowed 100 downloads and that went fast. The maual is a complete shop manual for all repairs associated with the Troy Horse.

i have a horse troybilt rototiller i have ser number 412955. am not sure how old of troybilt i have if u can please look it up that would be cool thanks dan

Dan, your tiller is an Aug-Sept 1979 model according to the Troy-Bilt serial number list I use from the troybilttillerclub group on yahoo. Lots of good info there
