I am trying to switch over the hydraulic fittings on this tree puller from Flat faces to pioneer type. The flat face fittings are 1/2" bsp and the pioneer type I bought at TSC and they are 1/2" NPT. The hoses on the puller are a smaller compression fitting. HELP!! How do I make this work? I went back to TSC and stood there in the hydraulic aisle, but I just couldn't figure it out. Here are a few pics.

Time for a trip to the local hydraulic shop or go online. Surpluscenter.com has a good amount of fittings to make adapters or new hoses also. Good luck.

Yeah, I was thinking same thing about hydraulics shop. They were a great help when I was hooking up the 3rd function.

...or Discounthydraulichose.com. They have a good chart in their technical documents with dimensions and stuff on all the types of fittings out there. If you don't have a digital caliper, go get one as you will need it. Many cheap ones that work just fine available.

Local hydraulic shop should always be able to sort it out but they will likely be super expensive. Sometimes you really need that ability to have them right there, but for this, online should work out.

Pipe thread adapters are common. Even my local Ace Hardware BSP to NPT.... But be careful. THEIRS ARE RATED FOR WATER PRESSURE, NOT FOR HYDRAULIC PRESSURE.
Hydraulic leaks are dangerous. Get your thread adapters from a hydraulics house.

What you have in those hoses is DIN 2353 metric fittings. You'll need an adapter from those fittings to NPT, which may or may not be available directly, so it may need another adapter in between.

To figure the size of the metric fitting, measure the diameter of the tube inside the nut at the very top since it's a 24 degree taper. I'm guessing it'll be 12 mm or thereabout.
