I managed to rip the hydraulic inlet pipe off the side of the transmission when I hit a stump in tall grass. (pipe that runs from transmission to the filter). All the fluid leaked out. I bought a new pipe, put it back in place, cleaned the filter, and put in 11.6 gallons of hydraulic/transmission fluid as recommended . The engine runs fine and I can drive it in forwards and reverse, but the FEL, rear 3 pt hitch, and steering will not work. Unfortunately it is stuck in a place where I can not get my trailer back there to take it into a dealer. And with the steering not working, I can not drive it out to a better spot.

My thoughts were
1. Do I need to bleed the air out somewhere? I can not find a bleed screw or reference in the manual.
2. Did the pump go bad from running with no fluid?

Any advice would be appreciated. Even I can just get the steering working, I could get it to the point where I could get it on a trailer to be serviced.
Thanks,
Sean

I don't know why the hydraulics aren't working, but you can steer the tractor by using the brake pedals. Engage the left brake to go left and the right to go right. Only snakes, stumps, and barbed wire hang out in tall grass.
Hope this helps.

There is no "bleeding air" in an open center system.

You might have some cavitation or other damage to the pumps. The MX4700 has a dedicated 4.9 gpm power steering pump and a separate 9.5 gpm main hydraulic pump, so those might have been destroyed.

To get it out of the area, you will need to disconnect any implement, then get a floor jack/bottle jack, put the loader in float position, then jack up the loader a foot or two, then take it out of float. The loader will stay there. You can do what the other poster said and use the brakes and carefully get it out to the closest point you can safely get it on your trailer. It's going to be time consuming, but it is doable.

Turn steering wheel lock to lock. Steering circuit will bleed the air.

If these pumps are engine mounted, try removing the outlet piping and running it a bit, it sounds like it is having trouble priming the pumps. you could even over fill it a bit. A pump can get air locked removing the discharge will help to get them primed.

mscheer - Thanks for the advice on steering with the brake pedals. I had not thought of that and will give it a try.

diesel - Thanks for the advice on jacking up the loader. That is a big part of why I am having trouble getting it out is the FEL dragging on the rough ground. Maybe with that and the brakes I can get it out to flat ground to load it on the trailer.
Is there any good test to see if the pumps are broken?

Louny -Thanks, I will see if taking off the outlet hose lets it prime any easier. I will try to overfill it also to see if that helps it prime.

Kuboman - I will try the steering wheel a few more times to see If I can bleed out more air.

Thanks everybody!

FWIW...the QD's on the FEL valve can hold air pockets (like a vapor lock)...you might try disconnecting and and reconnecting them...
