Help Husqvarna p525d ride on mower stops after parking brake lifted

Wonder if anyone can help me with this issue.
I've got a Husq p525d ride on mower where I am able to start it up fine but when lift the parking break in order to reverse the mower, the engine stops.
I'm not really familiar with the terminology regarding the parts of the machine so forgive me if the info I have given is rather sparse/ not really detailed.

Does it stop if you try to move forward as well?

Normally, this is a sign the Seat Switch is inoperative/disconnected.

There is a switch inside the seat that tells the mower you are actually sitting on the seat and in control of the machine. A faulty switch lets the machine protect the free-world by shutting down the engine.

I tried moving forward while the parking brake was still engaged and I can still move forward without the machine turning off.
The engine stops immediately when I disengage the parking brake

Both actions indicate a failed or disconnected Seat Switch,

Trying to move forward while the Parking Brake is still engaged is not clever. The machine remains running because the PB switch is active.

i.e. Your Seat Switch is either faulty or not connected.

Ahh okay.

How can I fix this? My dad would rather to try to fix it himself rather than take it to the shops.

Check the wiring to the seat switch.
Check that the switch is operating correctly when pressed.
Check the switch is firmly connected to the wiring.
