My Kubota 3830 started making a grinding noise from the rear tires. It sounds like cans getting run over. The sound isn't constant, but seems like it is made with the rotation of the tire. Each time it gets to a certain point of the rotation I can hear it. It is starting to get louder. It only has about 250 hours on it. Any help would be great. Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Check the torque on the lug nuts! That's a common (and easy to fix) deal. If they've run loose a long time, it can egg out the holes in the rims.

If that's not it, I'd get it to a dealer..........

Check to see if your wife is lodged in between the treads on the tires. It happens. They run out to tell you to get off the tractor, next thing you know, they disappear. But then, that annoying whining noise. Almost ruins your tractor 'work'.

Another thing...not familiar with your tractor, but if you have the ability to change the width of the rear tires, and the bolts that lock them in place are loose, it'll do exactly what you are talking about. My brother's 7510 did that until we figgered it out.

Charliebrn has described a common problem. Everyone who has adjustable wheel spacing feature that uses an axle clamp should watch these bolts carfully!!!!

The clamps on my B2400 get removed and cleaned about twice each year for just this reason.

My theory is that the bolt and nut used to clamp things together are soft (especially the nut). I know the two clamp halves are soft and in my case I reversed them because of the wear.

I plan to use a Gr8 the next time I take things apart.

Turn off tractor, block the front tires, put in neutral, jackup the rear and manually spin rear tires to see if you can hear grinding. if you do hear it may be easier to hear where its coming from. You may want to do this after trying the easy stuff 1st.

Thanks for the suggestions for a fix. It looks like the bolts are loose. I just need to tighten them. Thanks again for the quick responses. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
