HELP! 3PT WON\'T......

Was using my blade to remove snow today and about an hour into it I pulled my 3pt. lever and it didn't raise /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. FEL still worked. I stopped to see if I could if see anything was loose. Saw nothing. I got it off the ground by adjusting my top link by hand and continued the last with the FEL. Just as I was finishing, the 3pt. raised by itself (left lever in UP position) /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. Tried it a couple of times and it worked as usual then just stopped again /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. This time it was off the ground so I went straight to the garage. I lifted the FEL and gave it some throttle to clear the snow from it (joystick action). As I was backing into the garage the 3pt. lifted again /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. Hope you guys can give me some advice/pointers as what to look for/at. Thanks. Gerard

Re: HELP! 3PT WON\'T......

Our CK30 has a Hyd. shutoff valve down by your right foot . Did that get shut off? Or the Hyd. oil low ?

Re: HELP! 3PT WON\'T......

I had the same problem with my CK 30 and the answer was as highgear pointed out, the knob by my feet had gotton turned. The only way I can think this happens is from the larger boots I wear this time of year. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Re: HELP! 3PT WON\'T......

The only thing I can think of, since I know you know about the drop speed control all are referring to, is that somewhere in the system you got something blocked or frozen that blocked the flow to the 3pt. I know, it sounds crazy, but it's the only thing I can think of at this time.
Make sure the switch on top of the valve body that you change when using the backhoe is in the proper 6:00 position as well, but that's probably not the problem since the FEL wouldn't work right and the tractor wouldn't run right if that were in the wrong position, but check it anyway and make sure it isn't slightly moved out of home position.
It could be that you have the drop speed control so close to closed that it's getting an intermittent stop because of extreme cold. Worth a shot anyway. John

John:

Frozen is what I initially thought. I checked the valve by moving it, the linkage at/to the lever (nice keeping a small flashlight in the tool box), the flow knob by adjusting it and fluid level when it first happened. Saw nothing. It was a few minutes later that it raised the first time by itself. I'll be using it again today and see how things go. Thanks for the input to all. Gerard
